How to transfer TIFF images in iPhoto to Photos without changing from TIFF?

I have 8 years worth (165,000+) images saved in iPhoto on my iMac and have tried moving them to a Photos library. When I do it changes them to jpeg's. I am a pro photographer and have always worked in TIFF as well as having all of my cameras, iPad and iPhone recording in TIFF. How to I prevent Photos from converting everything to Jpeg? Mac has always been preferred by Professionals because of its quality imaging but if our stock photos are converted to Jpeg, they use value and are not preferable to art directors. They want TIFF or RAW images.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

If you open an iPhoto library in Photos for Mac the TIFF originals will remain TIFF as Larry explained.

You can access the original TIFF images by exporting the photos with "File > Export > Export unmodified original".

And you can export edited photos by exporting the photos with "File > Export > Export ... photosl". In the export panel select "Photo Kind: TIFF" and "Full Size"
